Oaxaca plays a very important role in my life. My roots are there, and the region will always have a special place in my heart. I first began photographing weddings there five years ago, and I feel very fortunate when couples ask me to travel back to photograph their big day. Andrea and Stuart held a beautiful wedding in the city, beginning with a Noche Oaxaqueña a couple of days before the wedding, where guests were able to get a glimpse of Oaxacan culture via the dances of the traditional Guelaguetza. On their wedding day, Andrea and Stuart got ready at the stunning Hotel Azul; Andrea stunned the crowd with a unique, delicate red wedding dress. The couple then had a very intimate and moving wedding ceremony at the Casa Oaxaca hotel, followed by amazing food and drinks prepared by chef Alejandro Ruiz. After mingling and congratulations, the wedding party was led back to the Hotel Azul by a traditional calenda. There, they held a warm and lively reception for friends and family, fueled by traditional Oaxacan food and drink, mariachis, and exquisite artisanal sweets. Some of my favorite images from the wedding day are below. Thank you Andrea and Stuart, and I wish you many happy years together!
Thanks to Matthew Olson for his help in photographing this wedding.
